Clara A. (Lorkowski) Mazure    
March 4, 1911 – April 6, 1992
Clara A. Mazure, 81, of Bad Axe, formerly of Smith Corners, died Monday, April 
6, 1992, at home after a long illness.  She was born March 4, 1911 in Bad Axe, 
daughter of the late Peter and Anna (Geboski) Lorkowski.  She married William 
Mazure on May 19, 1934 in Detroit.  He preceded her in death January 18, 1956.  
Mrs. Mazure was a graduate of Verona Mills Country School.  She farmed with her 
husband in Sigel Township until 1956.  She was a former member of Most Holy 
Trinity Catholic Church of Smith Corners.  She was a member of Sacred Heart 
Catholic Church in Bad Axe, since1971, when she moved to Bad Axe.  Mrs. Mazure 
had been a member of the Altar Society at both parishes.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Benedict (Evangeline “Vange”) Wolschleger of 
Harbor Beach, and Mrs. Hardol (Mary Ann) Cook of Harbor Beach; 19 
grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.  She was proceeded in death by three 
brothers, Leo, Edward Joseph Lorkowski; four sisters, Rose Roggenbuck, Agnes 
Essenmacher, Anastasia “Stazye” Essenmacher and Phoebe Zurek Booms. 

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in 
Smith Corners.  The Rev. John Cotter, pastor, will officiate.  Burial will be 
in the church cemetery.  Friends may call at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home 
in Ubly today from 6:30-9:30 p.m. and Wednesday from 1-9:30 p.m.  A parish wake 
service conducted by the Rev. Cotter will be 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral
