Michael Mathias Mazure
February 24, 1869 - June 20, 1953
Funeral services were held on Tuesday morning in Holy Trinity Catholic 
church, Smiths Corners, for Matthew Michael Mazure, 84, lifelong resident of 
Huron County, who died Saturday in his farm home In Sigel township after a 
long illness.  Rev. Francis Lukowicz, pastor, officiated.  Mr. Mazure was 
born in Paris Township and lived there until his marriage to Martha Wrubel 
February, 1897, in St. Mary's Catholic church, Parisville.  Mr. and Mrs. 
Mazure had lived 58 years since then in Sigel township. 
Surviving are his widow, a daughter, Mrs. Fred Kowalke, Detroit; five sons. 
Frank, William and Arthur Mazure, all of Harbor Beach, John Mazure, Ubly and 
Thomas Mazure, Centerline; 22 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, a 
sister. Mrs. Mary Heleski, Harbor Beach, and two brothers, August and Barney 
Mazure, Bad Axe.  Published Minden City Herald Friday June 26, 1953

'Michael' Mazure, Prominent Huron Farmer, Dies 
Harbor Beach -  Matthew “Michael” Mazure, 84, well known farmer and lifelong 
resident of Huron County, died Saturday in his farm home in Sigel Township 
after a long illness.  He was born in Parls Township and lived there until 
his marriage to Martha Wrubel in Wrubel February, 1897, in St. Mary's 
church, Parisville.  Mr. and Mrs. Mazure had lived 58 years since then in 
Sigel township and celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary this year.
 Mr. Mazure is survived by his widow; a daughter, Mrs. Fred Kowalke, 
Detroit; five sons. Frank, William and Arthur Mazure, all of Harbor Beach, 
John Mazure, Ubly and Thomas Mazure, Centerline; 22 grandchildren, nine 
great grandchildren, a sister. Mrs. Mary Heleski, Harbor Beach, and two 
brothers, August and Barney Mazure, Bad Axe.
The remains are in the farm home in Sigel Township.  Funeral services will 
be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Holy Trinity Catholic church, Smiths 
Corners, with the  pastor, Rev. Francis Lukowicz, officiating.  Rosarv 
devotions will be conducted by Father Lukowicz in the residence at 8.30 p.m.
