Survived by wife, Loraine. Visitation 3-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday at Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette. Funeral Mass 11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Parish, St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Marlette. Published in The Times Herald on Sept. 15, 2015 Frank McCoy, age 91, of Marlette, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2015, at Marlette Regional Hospital Hospice Residence. He was born September 11, 1924 in Minden City, Michigan to Dr. J.P. and Alma (Broadbeck) McCoy. At age 18, he proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, July 1943 and served during World War II until March, 1946. He participated in the Normandy Invasion aboard a Gunfire Support Craft and served aboard a Landing Craft at Okinawa and Iwo Jima as a gun sight-setter. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, he graduated from Minden City High School and became a State of Michigan Bee Inspector. Frank married Loraine Tenbusch on October 4, 1948 in Oakley, Michigan. He was employed as an Apiarist, worked at Guerdon Industries, Marlette, and retired in 1988 from General Motors, Flint. Frank was a man of strong faith and a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Marlette, for 60 years. He had a great love for family, enjoying leisure time with his family, woodworking, walking and reading. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Loraine; and their eight children, Ken (Sandy) McCoy, Boca Raton, Florida, Sandie (Dennis) Cargill, Marlette, Dan McCoy, Decatur, Indiana, Cindy (Joe) Ruchgy, Portland, Indiana, Frank (Chris) McCoy, St. Augustine, Florida, Anne (Don) Redman, Marlette, Dave (Sheila) McCoy, Marlette, and Elizabeth (Jeff) O’Donnell, Rochester; as well as 23 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; a brother, Richard (Bertha) McCoy; a brother-in-law, Edward Swiegert; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John James, William, Thomas, Joseph, Robert and Patrick; sisters Olive, Alma, Helen and Mary; two infant siblings; and grandson, Cody Ruchgy. Visitation was at Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette on Wednesday, September 16, from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m., with rosary being said at 7:00 p.m., and on Thursday, September 17, from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial was on Thursday September 17, 2015 at Holy Family Parish Church in Marlette at 11:00 a.m. The burial with military honors took place after the Mass at St. Elizabeth’s Cemetery, Marlette. Pall bearers were Frank’s sons Ken, Dan, Frank and Dave McCoy. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be given to Marlette Hospice Residence.
