McIntosh, of Holt was born in Ivanhoe on January 4, 1924, son of Dan and Bertha (Porsche) McIntosh and passed away November 2, 2008 at Ingham Regional Medical Center. He was surrounded by Helen, his devoted wife of 61 years, all of his children and Fr. John Byers. Lester graduated from Bad Axe High School in 1941 and served in the Army Air Corps in World War II. He operated a television repair shop and worked at General Motors, Chrysler and Silverstein’s before starting his long career at the General Electric Company, retiring as District Service Manager for the Lansing area in 1985. He spent much of his post retirement years delivering food to the hungry. Lester was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, IHM Council 10542, Prime Timers advocate, Social Minister Representative, Eucharist Minister, Adoration Chapel helper, Rosary Maker, DeWitt Retreat House helper and a 3rd Order of St. Francis. He was an excellent handyman, always ready and willing to work on anybody’s project, anywhere. His fantastic sense of humor and great-giving heart will be missed by all. He married Helen C. Wolschlager on January 18, 1947, who survives him, along with daughters, Joan (Bruce) Hughes, Cecilia (Patrick) Stanley, Mary (Terry) Adams; sons, James (Anna) McIntosh, Joseph (Karen) McIntosh, Raymond (Amy) McIntosh; daughter-in-law, Barbara McIntosh; 22 grandchildren; 15 great- grandchildren; his brother, Eugene (Irene) McIntosh; sisters, Vera (Jay) Burns and Violet (Calvin) Brown. He was preceded in death by four sisters; two brothers; a daughter, Florence McIntosh; sons, Donald and John McIntosh; grandson, Bruce Hughes; and, great- granddaughter, Jade McIntosh. Funeral Mass will be conducted on Thursday, November 6, 2008 at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 3815 S. Cedar, Lansing with the Rev Fr. John A. Byers as celebrant. Interment will follow at 4 p.m. at St. Columbkille Catholic Cemetery (Sheridan Church), Ubly. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel with a Scriptural Rosary at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions, in memory of Lester McIntosh, may be made to The Knights of Columbus, IHM Council 10542.
