(Visga) Melczarczyk December 3, 1925 – January 31, 2018 Columbus Twp. - Bernice J. Melczarczyk, 92, of Columbus Township, died Wednesday, January 31, 2018. She was born December 3, 1925 in Detroit to the late Sylvester and Elizabeth (Smarch) Visga. She married Eugene S. Melczarczyk on September 1, 1945 in Marysville. He died April 3, 2015. Mrs. Melczarczyk was a charter member of St. Christopher Catholic Church and was active in the Altar Society and the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary Council 9526. She enjoyed decorating cakes, playing bingo, and watching the family play sports. She is survived by three children, Sharon (Gary) Robinson, Dennis (Beth) Melczarczyk and Mary Ellen (Michael) Byington; five grandchildren, Cary (Barb) Robinson, Todd (Lisa) Robinson, Michael (Stephanie) Melczarczyk, Lisa (David) Buckland and Erin Byington; nine great grandchildren; a brother, James (Elaine) Visga; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter- in-law, Diane Melczarczyk; and siblings, Leo Visga, Irene Curtis and Leona Rosbury. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday in the Marysville Funeral Home. A Scripture Service will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Mrs. Melczarczyk will lie in state from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 in St. Christopher Catholic Church. The Rev. James Arwady will officiate. Burial will be in Riverlawn Cemetery, Marysville. Pallbearers will be Cary and Todd Robinson, Michael Melczarczyk, Lisa and David Buckland and Erin Byington. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Hospice or the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary Council 9526.
