Norman Leo Messing  
May 21, 1934 – January 28, 2019
Norman Leo Messing, age 84, of Carsonville passed away on Monday, January 28, 
2019 at his home.  He was born on May 21, 1934 at the family home in Minden City 
to the late Frank and Bernetta (Booms) Messing.   He married Eleanor Puvalowski 
on October 15, 1955 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Parisville, Michigan.  
Norman always spoke fondly of his brief time sailing the Great Lakes.  Norman 
worked as a lumberman at Grosbeck Lumber for many years.  He was a member of the 
Knights of Columbus for many years and enjoyed woodworking, gardening, hunting 
and playing cards.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Eleanor Messing of Carsonville; children 
Sharon (Bob) Bujak of Cass City, Margaret (Richard) Fairman of Applegate, Calvin 
Messing of Carsonville and Duane (Barbara) Messing of Carsonville; 6 
grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; two brothers, Gordon (Julie) Messing 
and Dan (Diane) Messing; one sister, Elizabeth Outlaw; several nieces and 
nephews.  He was preceded in death by one brother, Marcus Messing and three 
sisters, Arlene Roggenbuck, Sylvia Landon and Mildred Uhl.

Visitation will be from 2-9 P.M. on Friday at the Pomeroy Funeral Home in 
Carsonville. A Knights of Columbus Rosary will be held at 7 P.M. Friday evening 
at the funeral home.  Funeral Mass will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday at Ave 
Maria Parish- St. Marys Catholic Church in Port Sanilac, with visiting at the 
church from 10-11 A.M. Saturday morning.  Fr. Donald J. Eppenbrock will 
officiate.  Interment will be in the New St. Marys Cemetery in Carsonville.
