Dolores Mae (Holdwick) Messing
June 4, 1937 - June 16, 2012
Dolores Mae Messing, 75, passed away suddenly, Saturday, June 16, 2012, at 
Huron Medical Center.  She was born June 4, 1937, to the late Bernard and 
Cecilia (Whipping) Holdwick in Ruth.  Dolores was united in marriage to 
Lowell Messing on March 4, 1960.  She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic 
Church in Rapson, and was devoted to her faith.  She was a member of the St 
Rita Altar Society and the Daughters of Isabella.  She graduated from Ruth 
Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School in 1956.  In previous years she was 
always there to help her husband, Lowell, with his business.  Dolores 
enjoyed walking, traveling, visiting with her sisters, playing cards and 
especially spending time with her grandchildren whom she loved dearly. 

Dolores is survived by her husband, Lowell; three children, Lori (Paul) 
Maurer of Augusta, Georgia, Connie (Matt) Aymen and Kurt (Sheri) Messing all 
of Bad Axe; nine grandchildren, Dr. Trevor (Jessica) Maurer of Jackson, 
Mississipi, Travis Mainer of Augusta, Georgia, Lisa Marie (fiance, Dr. 
George Miller) Maurer of New Orleans, Louisiana, Mark, Joey and Josh Aymen 
and Brooke Messing, all of Bad Axe and Rachelle and Kaitlyn Dubey of 
Farmington Hills; one greatgrandchild, Hudson Maurer of Jackson, 
Mississippi; five sisters, Lucy Moore, Grace (Delbert) Burkhard, Margaret 
(Patrick) Jurgess, Doris Bowers and Millie (Lavem) Kaufman; one brother 
Bernard Holdwick; three brothers in-law, Donald, Kenneth, and Dexter 
Messing.  She was preceded in death by a sister, Katie Holdwick; a brother, 
Lavem Holdwick; sister in-law, Violet Holdwick; and brothers in-law, Virgil 
Messing, Russ Bowers and Louis Moore. 

Mass of Christian Burial was conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 20, 
2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rapson.  Visitation was from 2 to 8 
p.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at the MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe and 
from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.  There was a Rosary 
Service at 3 p.m. and a Scripture Service at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the 
funeral home.  Memorials may be offered to the family discretionary fund.
