Alma Mary (Booms) Messing May 14, 1907 - September 29, 1993 RUTH - Mrs. Alma Messing, 86, died Wednesday, September 29, 1993, at Harbor Beach Community Hospital after a long illness. She was born May 14, 1907, in Sherman Township. She married Elmer Messing May 14, 1929 in Helena. He preceded her in death December 11, 1977. After working in the city for two years, Mrs. Messing retired to Minden City where she farmed and resided all her life, raising a large family. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ruth, an honorary member of Christian Mothers and the Daughters of Isabella Regina Fidelis Circle 608. She is survived by seven daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Rosemary) Block of Gastonia, North Carolina, Mrs. John (Beatrice) Shultz of Sacramento, Calif., Mrs. Ralph (Rita) Seidl of Glendale Heights, IL, Mrs. Gerald (Diane) Keys of Sandusky, Mrs. Eldon (Evelyn) Sass of Fort Gratiot, Mrs. Frank (Bernadette) Pickett of Port Huron and Mrs. James (Viola) Essenmacher of Imlay City; nine sons, Leroy (Jean) of Juneau, Alaska, Gerald (Mary), Vincent (Bemadette), Howard (Lucille) and Ernest (Marjorie) all of Minden City, Russell (Rosemary) of Ruth, Dennis (Phyllis) of Deckerville, Patrick (Marianne) of Royal Oak and James (Rosalynd) of Burke, Virginia; a brother, Leonard (Rita) Booms of Harbor Beach; six sisters, Clara Roggenbuck of Helena, Loretta Dropewski of Port Hope, Bernetta Messing of Minden City, Mrs. Clarence (Emma) Geiger of Harbor Beach, Roselyn Messing of Helena and Mrs. Edward (Margaret) Maurer of Harbor Beach; 86 grandchildren and 81 greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by three children, Joseph, Mary and Marcella and five brothers, Roman, Wilfred, Bernard, Art and Leroy Booms. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ruth. The Rev. Richard Bokinski, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visiting is noon to 9:30 p.m. today and 8:30 a.m. until service time Saturday in the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly. A parish Scripture service is 8 p.m. today.
