Elmer Bernard Messing
August 21, 1906 - December 11, 1977
FORESTV1LLE - Elmer B. Messing, 71, died Sunday in Huron Memorial Hospital, Bad 
Axe, after a long Illness.  He was born August 21, 1908, In Huron County, and 
was a lifelong area resident.  He was a retired farmer and a member of Ruth 
Council 3823, Knights of Columbus.  Mr. Messing married Alma Booms May 14, 1929, 
in Helena. 

He is survived by his wife; five brothers, Roman, Wilfred, Charles and Eugene 
Messing, all of Ruth, and Raymond Messing, Minden City; two sisters, Mrs. 
Bernadette Hessling, Harbor Beach, and Mrs. Agnes Hessling, Ruth; nine sons, 
Vincent, Gerald, Ernest and Howard, all of Minden City; Russell, Ruth; Leroy, 
Juneau, Alaska; Dennis, Deckerville; Patrick, Royal Oak, and James, Oak Harbor, 
Washington; seven daughters, Mrs. Rosemary Block, Gastonia, N.C.; Mrs. Beatrice 
Schultz, Lemoore, Calif.; Mrs. Rita Seidl, Glendale Heights, Ilinois.; Mrs. 
Diane Clink, Harbor Beach; Mrs. Evelyn Sass and Mrs. Bernadette Pickett, both of 
Port Huron, and Mrs. Viola Essenmacher, Washington, Michigan; 72 grandchildren 
and a great-grandchild.  

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday In St. Peter and Paul's Catholic 
Church, Ruth.  The Rev. Francis Murray, pastor, will officiate.   Burial will be 
in the church cemetery.  The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today and 
Wednesday.  The Rev. Murray will officiate tonight, and the Ruth Knights of 
Columbus will officiate Wednesday.  Both will be in the Bowen Funeral Home, 
Minden City.  Visitation is at the funeral home.  Published Times Herald Port
