He was born January 30, 1910 in Minden City son of the late Peter and Theodora (Vogel) Messing. He married Rosaline Booms on May 23, 1936 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church Helena. Mr. Messing attended St Catherine High School, Detroit and returned to the Huron County area in 1935, remaining here for nearly 56 years. He was a former Sherman Township school board member of Sherman Country School No. 4. He was a member of St. Anthony’s parish since 1936, where he served on the parish committee and was an usher. Mr. Messing farmed until 1972, when he retired. Surviving are his wife Rosaline Harbor Beach; four sons Richard (Ida Mae) Messing Ruth, Frederick (Audrey) Messing, Ruth, Thomas (Judith) Messing, Ransomyille N.Y., and Michael (Joyce) Messing Ubly; and 14 grandchildren. Preceding him in death were two sisters, one brother, two stepbrothers and one stepsister. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. The Rev. Steve Fillion pastor officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.
