Catherine Gertrude (Clor) Messing
November 14, 1917 – December 7, 1994
Catherine G. Messing, 77, of Ruth, died Wednesday, December 7, 1994, at her home 
after a long illness.  She was born November 14, 1917 in Sherman Township, 
daughter of the late Joseph and Caroline (Terbrack) Clor.  She married Arthur 
Messing on October 27, 1936 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ruth.  He 
preceded her in death on July 13, 1948.  Mrs. Messing was a graduate of Sts. 
Peter and Paul Elementary School.  She was a lifelong parishioner of Sts. Peter 
and Paul Catholic Church, and was a cook for the school cafeteria for 25 years, 
retiring in 1980. 

Surviving are six sons, Carl and his wife, Rose, of Utica, Harold and his wife, 
Joann, of Ruth, Daniel and his wife, Matilda, of Harbor Beach, George and his 
wife, Diane, of Ruth, Harvey and his wife, Elaine, of East Lansing and Samuel of 
Ruth; two daughters, Mildred Vogel and her husband, Daniel, of Minden City and 
Mary Ann Leppek and her husband, Michael, of Harbor Beach; 29 grandchildren; 25 
great-grandchildren; and a brother, Leo Clor of Ruth. She was preceded in death 
by two granddaughters, Mary and Martha; a grandson, Daniel; three brothers, 
Joseph, Nicholas and Jacob Clor; and three sisters, Antonia Downey, Sister Louis 
Gonzaga and Sister Catherine Joseph. 

Services were Saturday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ruth.  The Rev. 
Ronald Wagner, pastor, officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.  
Arrangements were by the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home of Ubly. Memorials may 
be made to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School in Ruth.  Published Minden City 
Herald Thursday December 15, 1994.
