Louis Robert Moore  
October 17, 1923 - May 26, 2007
Mr. Louis R. Moore, 83, of Bad Axe passed away Saturday, May 26, 2007 at the 
Deckerville Community Hospital.  Louis was born October 17, 1923 in Palms, to 
the late William R. and Lena (Behr) Moore.  He married Lucy (Holdwick) Priemer 
February 27, 1965 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Smith Corners by the 
Rev. Joseph Karaba.  Louis was an eighth grade graduate of a country school in 
Palms.  He was a parishioner at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Palms for over 40 
years.  He worked the family farm for a number of years before he went to work 
for GM Motors in Saginaw for several years.  He returned to Huron County in 
1962.  Louis started his own business in 1967, the Thumb Landscaping and 
Nursery, in Ubly.  He purchased land in Bad Axe in 1973 to expand his business.  
Louis owned and operated the nursery for over 30 years, retiring because of ill 
health.  He was a member of the Michigan Association of Nurserymen.  Louis loved 
his toy tractor collection, visiting with his family and his friends at the 
Golden Arches and Burger King.

Louis is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lucy of Bad Axe; one step-daughter, 
Linda Allen and her husband, David, of Evart; one step-grandson, Shaun Allen of 
Ferndale; two sisters, Marie Bones of St. Clair and Kathleen Hunt of Taylor; 
several nieces and nephews.  Louis was preceded in death by one brother, Justin 
Moore; three sisters, Mildred Reiche, Elise Bieth and Sally Cleland; one sister-
in-law, Catherine Eback Moore; four brothers-in-law, William Reiche, Jack Bieth, 
Earl Cleland and Russell Hunt. 

Funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 31, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic 
Church in Bad Axe.  The Rev. James Carlson, pastor, will officiate.  Burial will 
be in the St. John Cemetery in Ubly.  Visitation will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. 
today, from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly 
and from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the church.  There will be a parish vigil 
service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.  Published by Huron Daily
