Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Lake Huron Cath church by Rev James J Marvin, pastor. The 59 year old MI jurist died Tues morning of a heart attack in Detroit. Justice Murphy, appointed to the high tribunal in 1940, had been ill in Henry Ford hospital for about a week. his death came unexpectedly since his condition had not been considered serious. Doctors said it resulted from a coronary occlusion – a blocking of blood to the heart. Burial of the man who had served as mayor of Detroit, governor of Michigan, governor general of the Philippine Islands and attorney general of the United States will be in the family plot in Rock Falls cemetery. He will be laid to rest beside his parents, Mr. & Mrs. John F Murphy. Rev Marvin will chant a requiem high mass at the last rites. Congress adjourned for the day after its members had eulogized the jurist Tues. Flags in Washington and throughout MI were flown at half-staff. Federal and Recorders courts will be closed in Detroit Fri in tribute. President Truman will be represented at the funeral services in Harbor Beach by Secretary of Labor Maurice Tobin.
