Elkton, Dec 24 - Christmas celebrations in 6 Huron County homes were marred by a tragedy resulting in the deaths of 3 persons and injury to 4 others, in an auto accident about 1:40 a.m. Sun on M-142, about 10 rods east of the Grassmere road, 3 miles east of here. The dead are: Vincent Edward McGee, 23, Bad Axe, a World War II vet with a record of distinguished service in the European area. Martin Fritz, 21, Elkton, a farmer........McGee was discharged Oct 1 as a private first class after serving 4 years 11 months. He was in the first contingent of American soldiers to land in Iceland and later went to Scotland. He took part in D-Day invasion of Normandy and fought across France, Belgium and Germany, winning 6 battle stars. He is survived by his father, Daniel J McGee, Bad Axe; 5 sisters, Miss Margaret McGee, Midland; Mrs Ted Dowde and Misses Loretta and Annabel McGee, all of Bad Axe; and Mrs Charles Krohn, Elkton, and 3 brothers, Martin, Elkton; James, Caseville and M/Sgt Frank McGee, Aachen, Germany. He was born Oct 13, 1922, in Meade twp and lived all his life in this vicinity. Funeral services will be conduced at 9 a.m. Wed in Sacred Heart Cath ch. Burial will be in Colfax cemetery. The remains will be in the Alden A MacAlpine funeral home. Fritz is survived by his parents, Mr & Mrs Albert E Fritz, Elkton; 4 sisters, Mrs Violetta Guest, Saginaw; Miss Justice Fritz, Detroit, and Misses Doris and Ella Fritz, who live with their parents; 2 brothers, Rudolph and Randolph Fritz, both of Detroit. He was born Dec 31, 1924 in Brookfield twp and lived all his life in Brookfield and Oliver twp. Funeral services will be held at p.m. Wed in the home and 2 p.m. in Trinity Luth ch, Bad Axe.
