Olshove Stanley I. Olshove, 88, a resident of Warren for more than 40 years, died Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at Henry Ford Bi-County Community Hospital. He was born June 3, 1920, in Tyre, Mich. Mr. Olshove was raised on his family farm in the Thumb area until the U.S. Army called him to duty during World War II. He served during the Battle of the Bulge for which he was honored with the Bronze Star. He also was held as a prisoner of war for three days prior to the liberation. After his military service he moved to Detroit and eventually to Warren. He worked and retired in 1977 from Chrysler Motors Dodge Main plant as a repair relief man. He also was an active member of UAW Local 3, and after retirement he continued with the UAW assisting members with information. When he was not working he loved watching the Detroit Tigers as their No. 1 fan. His family bought him a paver brick at the new Comerica Park engraved with his name as No. 1 fan. He also loved to garden and tend to his flowers. He served as a volunteer and worked with the Goodfellows as a volunteer for more than 20 years. He also was a member of Knights of St. John. His family said he put others before himself. Mr. Olshove is survived by his wife, Minnie; children, Tom (Cindy) Olshove, and Vince (Cindy) Olshove; grandchildren, Michelle (Matt) Seger and Nicholas Olshove; great-grandchildren, John, Pamela and Adam; and sister, Emma Wisbiski. He was predeceased by his parents, Ignatz Olshove and Laura (nee: Glaza) Olshove; and 11 siblings. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Teresa of Avila St. Dorothy Catholic Church, with Rev. Thomas Puzio officiating. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township. Visitation is 2-9 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. Scripture service, at D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road (at Common), Warren. Additional visitation is 9:30-10 a.m. Saturday at the church. .
