O単arka Sr. Mr. Chester J. O単arka Sr., 90, of Bad Axe passed away Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006 at the Huron Medical Center in Bad Axe. Chester was born on Jan. 19, 1916 in Paris Township to the late Andrew and Martha (Peplinski) O単arka. He married Genevieve Ulfig on June 26, 1937 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Parisville. He attended a country school. He farmed and worked at Nestle Milk, retiring after 25 years. He also worked at Martin Machinery in Bad Axe for a few years. He was a member of the Ruth Knights of Columbus Council No. 3823 for more than 50 years. He was a parishioner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, snowmobiling, and visiting with his family. Chester is survived by his wife, Genevieve O単arka of Bad Axe; one son, Chester O単arka Jr. and his wife, Sylvia, of Waterford; three grandchildren, Duane O単arka and his wife, Sherrie, of White Lake, Karen St. Souver and her husband, Darren, of Saginaw, and Debbie O単arka of Davisburg; five great-grandchildren, Alycia, Christa, and Duane II O単arka, Shelby and Austin St. Souver; and three sisters, Minnie Bismack of Bad Axe, Beatrice Lemanski and her husband, Victor, of Bad Axe, and Grace Peruski of Ubly. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Theresa Lamke, Martha Goniwicha, Gertrude Zulka, and Phoebe Lemanski. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe. The Rev. James Carlson, pastor, will preside. Burial will be in the St. Mary Cemetery in Parisville in the spring. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 9 p.m. today at Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly, from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. There also will be a parish vigil service at 7:30 p.m. today by Fr. Carlson and a Ruth Knights of Columbus rosary at 8:15 p.m. Both services will be at the funeral home.
