Peyerk Jr. January 2, 1918 – October 8, 2004 Frank A. Peyerk, Jr., 86, of Filion, died Friday, October 8, 2004, at Courtney Manor Nursing Home in Bad Axe after an extended illness. Frank's goals and achievements in life were to instill values of honesty and the willingness to help others and faithfulness to God. He was greatly respected and loved by his children, grandchildren, and friends. Frank was born January 2, 1918 in Harbor Beach to the late Frank and Mary (Klama) Peyerk, Sr. He married Genevieve Sobieray on September 28, 1940 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rapson. Frank was a graduate of the country school system and farmed with his family and on his own until 1979. He was a life-long parishioner of St. Joseph Parish in Rapson, worked construction for many years, and was a member of the Laborers Union #1098 of Saginaw. He enjoyed euchre, fishing, and deer hunting. Frank liked traveling with his wife and visiting and inspiring his grandchildren and great-grandchildren with his values. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Genevieve "Gennie," of Filion; three daughters, Mrs. Pauline "Paula" Gucwa and her husband, Joseph, of Lapeer, Mrs. Carolyn Talaski and her husband, Duane, of Port Austin, and Shelley Richards, of Palm Harbor, Florida; and three sons, Kenneth Peyerk and his wife, Gwen, of Ortonville; Larry Peyerk and his wife, Melinda, of Port Huron, and Ron Peyerk and his wife, Cheri, of Bad Axe; 22 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Leona Lemanski, of Harbor Beach. Frank was preceded in death by five brothers, Ray, Tony, Ed, Joe, Julius; three sisters: Theresa Weymouth, Anna Wruble and Stacy Goniwicha; and one brother-in-law: Fabian Lemanski. A Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 12, 2004, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rapson. Fr. James Carlson, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Sunday and from 2 to 9 p.m. on Monday at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly and from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rapson. A parish vigil service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Monday by Fr. Carlson and a rosary will be led by the St. Rita Altar Society at 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
