Peyerk, 79, of Bad Axe, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2014, at her residence while under hospice care. She was born on January 8, 1935, in Minden City, to the late Joseph and Emma (Halifax) Schumacher. She married Clarence Peyerk on June 14, 1952, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Palms. Lois was a graduate of the Minden City Elementary School and attended Ubly High School. She worked in Bad Axe, at the pickle factory, for 20 years and the seat belt factory for 10 years. She also worked at Thumb Plastics for 10 years. She was a parishioner at St. Hubert Parish, Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe. She was a dedicated member of the Rapson Sportsman’s Club. Lois enjoyed quilting, playing cards, watching the birds at her bird feeders, and going to their Grindstone property. She truly cherished being with her family and friends. Lois is survived by her husband of 61 years, Clarence; two sons, Randolph Peyerk of Filion and Roger Peyerk and his wife, Beverly of Elkton; one daughter, Yvonne Mausolf and her husband, Rod of Bad Axe; six grandchildren, Mikkee (Keith) West of Charlotte, Ben (Tina) Peyerk of Juneau, Alaska, Crystal Waugh of Sebewaing, Jennifer Peyerk of Westland, Melissa (Craig) Siemen of Harbor Beach, Nicholas Mausolf and his fiancée, Rande Krozek of Bad Axe; seven great-grandchildren, Avery West, Cooper Peyerk, Cailyn and Ashlyn Waugh, Laine, Kelsey and Kyle Siemen; three sisters, Jenella Cox, June Moy and Shirley (Norman) Ginther; two brothers, Jack Schumacher and LaVern (Beverly) Schumacher; two sisters-in-law, Mary Schumacher and Elenor Schumacher; many nieces and nephews. Lois was preceded in death by six brothers, Eli, Norman, Charles, George, James and Leonard Schumacher; four sisters, Lorraine Hipp, Ruth Belger, Leila Haupt, Jean Gosdzinski; 10 brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Joseph Cox, Vera Schumacher, Roy Hipp, Helen Schumacher, Chris Belger, Delores Schumacher, Joe Haupt, Chet Moy, Alfred Gosdzinski and Mary Schumacher. Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, St. Hubert Parish in Bad Axe. The Rev. Robert Howe, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Rapson in the spring. Visitation will be from 3-9 p.m. on Monday at the Zinger- Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly and from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at the church only. There will be a parish vigil service at 6 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home. Memorials are requested to Hospice Advantage of Cass City.
