Peyerk, 67, of Lincoln Township died Thursday October 29, 1998, at home after a long illness. He was born May 31, 1931, in Harbor Beach, son of the late Raymond and Clara (Smarch) Peyerk. He attended Swayze Rural School. Elmer was married to Evelyn Lackowski in Parisville on September 25, 1954, by the Rev. Ignatius J. Woloszyk. Elmer worked the family farm for many years and worked as a supervisor at Active Industries. He was honorably discharged from the Army as Cpl. E-4 and was awarded a National Defense Service Medal. He was a member of the Rapson Sportsmens Club and the Knights of Columbus #1546 of Bad Axe. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, playing cards, attending auction sales, polka dancing, and enjoyed his grandkids. He was a loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; two daughters, Jan Brady and her husband, Ron, of Bad Axe, Kathryn Osantowski and her husband, Allen, of Madison Heights; three sons, Phil Peyerk and his wife, Diane, of Bad Axe, Thomas Peyerk and his special friend, Kendra Bismack, of Bad Axe; nine grandchildren, Ehren, Tennille, Raymond, and Josua Peyerk, Jason, Levi, and Raechelle Schultz. Ryan and Sarah Osantowski; five step-grandchildren, Jodi, Heather, and Amanda Bendrey, Rodney and Ron Brady; one sister, Lorraine Mirawski and her husband, Bernard, of Romeo; two brothers, Donald Peyerk and his wife, May Lou of Kinde, Robert Peyerk and his wife, Carol, of Harbor Beach; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law Leonard and Rosalie Peyerk. The funeral mass was conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 31, 1998, from St. Joseph Catholic Church of Rapson with Fr. John Weis. Burial took place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Rapson. A wake scripture reading was conducted at 7 p.m. Friday followed by a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 8 p.m. at the MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe. Visitation was at the funeral home Friday and Saturday. Mr. Peyerk’s pallbearers were Randy Becking, Curtis Watchowski, Jerry Lackowski, Mike Lackowski, Randy Brady and Jim Geiger. Memorials may be made in the form of Mass or to the Family.
