He was born on March 1, 1960 in Bad Axe to Louise (Klama) Pionk and the late Elmer Pionk. He married Darlene Gosdzinski on April 25, 1987 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Parisville. Jerry was a graduate of Ubly High School. He worked as a hi-lo driver for Active Industries for a few years. He managed and fed cattle for Bischer Farms. He was employed at Co-Op Quality Feed in Ruth for over 18 years. He also farmed and was a member of the Farm Bureau. Jerry was a lifelong parishioner at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Smith Corners. He enjoyed hunting, four- wheeling, his skidster, tractor pulls, watching TV and visiting with his family and friends, especially his co-op friends. Jerry is survived by his wife, Darlene of Ubly, four daughters, Nicole, Chelsey, Samantha and Alexis, all of Ubly; his mother, Louise Pionk of Ubly; one sister and three brothers , Doreen Smith and her husband, Craig, of Filion, George Pionk, Alfred Pionk and his wife, Pamela and Larry Pionk, all of Ubly; his father-in-law, Eugene Gosdzinski of Ubly; two sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law, Diane Brown and her husband, Mark of Bad Axe, Glorie Ann Sadro and her husband, Wayne, of Bad Axe; David Gosdzinski and his wife, Janel and Mark Gosdzinski and his wife, Christine, both of Ubly; many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer and his mother-in-law, Marlene Gosdzinski. The funeral mass will be 11 a.m., Monday, Oct. 18 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Smith Corners. Rev. Robert Howe, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at the Zinger- Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church only. There will be a parish vigil service 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials are requested to the Family Discretionary Fund. Published: Saturday, October 16, 2010 HURON DAILY TRIBUNE Additional Comments: In an earlier newspaper article from the Huron Daily Tribune: Events planned to benefit Jerry Pionk Family A Benefit Breakfast, along with a 50-50 Drawing, Euchre Tournament, and Live Auction, are being planned to benefit the Jerry Pionk Family to cover costs of cancer treatment and related expenses in Jerry's second bout with cancer. The Pionk Family includes Jerry, his wife, Darlene, and children Nicole, Chelsey, Samantha and Alexis. The events are scheduled for Sunday, March 7 at the Ubly Fox Hunters Club. The Benefit Breakfast will be served from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the Live Auction to begin at 1 p.m. with the Euchre Tournament to follow.
