February 24, 1862 - September 26, 1950
Harbor Beach, Sept. 28 Matthew Pionk, 88, died Tuesday night in the home of 
his daughter, Mrs. Henry McAllister, Port Huron, after a long illness.  He 
was born February 24, 1862, in Cleveland and came with his parents to Huron 
County as a child and lived near Parisville and Helena until he came to 
Harbor Beach 35 years ago.  He lived the last eight years in Port Huron.  
Mr. Pionk is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Carl Shagena, Detroit, and 
Mrs. Sam Ledsworth and Mrs. McAllister, Port Huron; six sons, Joseph and 
Edward, both of Detroit; Philip, Leo and Robert, all of Port Huron; Paul, of 
Harbor Beach, 21 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.  
The remains are in the Joshua Morgan funeral home.  Funeral services will be 
held at 9:30 a.m., Friday in Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic church.  Rev. 
James J. Marvin will officiate.  Burial will be in Rock Falls Cemetery.

Note:  Born to Andrew & Marianna (Schefka) Pionk.  Married Rosalia Zurek 
(April 28, 1876- March 6, 1907) on January 16, 1893 in St. Mary’s Catholic 
Church in Parisville.  Married Catherine Kloska/Koleski on June 17, 1907.  
Although his obituary shows he was born in Cleveland, both of his marriage 
records, the 1910 census and his death certificate show he was born in 
Germany/Prussia/Poland.  The 1910 census states he emigrated in 1870
