Polk, 50, dropped dead about noon Sun while working in the barn on his farm in Verona Twp. Mr Polk went to the barn about 11:30 a.m. His wife, Rosalind, found his lifeless body about 2 p.m. when she went to the barn after he failed to return. Coroner Alden A MacAlpine and Sheriff Merritt R McBride were notified. Coroner MacAlpine said death was caused by heart disease. Mr Polk was born May 25, 1898, in Sigel Twp and was a lifelong resident of the vicinity of Rapson. He lived the lst 18 years in Verona Twp. He is survived by his widow, a son, Arthur, who lives with his parents; two brothers, Edward Polk, Detroit and Thomas Polk, Rapson, and seven sisters, Mrs Phoebe McCarthy, Mrs Martha Lakin, Mrs Clara Stapleton and Mrs Marie Ruth, all of Detroit; Mrs Emma Robinson, Pontiac; Mrs Agnes Gelnaw, Port Austin, and Mrs Gertrude Krauss, Romulus, MI. He was treasurer of the Holy Name society of St Joseph Cath ch in Rapson the last 10 years.
