Harry was born on June 17, 1937 to Leo and Clara (Booms) Roggenbuck in Harbor Beach, Michigan. He was the 10th child of 14 children, and often the source of laughter and other shenanigans that helped keep his family entertained, and earned his reign as a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend with a pretty impressive following. He farmed beside his father and siblings, and this is where his love of farming was nurtured. Harry married Rochelle Seidl in Ruth, Michigan on November 21, 1959, and a real- life love story began. Shortly after their marriage, Harry and Rochelle moved into his childhood home and took over the family farm. Here they formed a dynamic husband-wife partnership and raised 5 children. Theirs was a marriage built on strong love, respect, patience, and devotion toward one another and their family. Harry loved to travel, and though Rochelle preferred to stay closer to home, they enjoyed a number of trips together, including their last big one to Alaska. Harry grew up loving life, family, friends, and baseball. He was an especially passionate fan of the Detroit Tigers and loved to listen to their games on the radio or watch them on television any chance he got, often getting so caught up in the game, he'd scream in disgust or shout for joy. As a kid, he even cried after disappointing losses or plays. Fishing was another of Harry's great loves. For a number of years, he'd join a large group of his fishing buddies, and they'd pack up their campers and aluminum boats for an annual fishing trip to Blind River, Canada. He never tired of sharing the humorous fishing tales and memories created through the years of those trips, and all those fishing buddies welcomed him to Heaven, and what fun they must be having. Though Harry loved his fun, he also held important leadership roles and was very active in his church and farming community. He was a Pioneer seed salesman for over 50 years. In addition, he served on the state board for the Michigan Corn Growers Association and held the position of Grand Knight for the Ruth Knights of Columbus. In April of 2005, his wife Rochelle preceded him in death. It was a very difficult time for him, as he had lost his soulmate and partner in life. He spent time with other widowers and friends, but there was a space in his heart that needed filling. Five years later, on July 2, 2010, he married Delores Terbrack. She was certainly a gift from God, and soon filled the void in his heart to overflowing. They enjoyed a good number of years dancing, traveling, playing cards, gardening, and doing woodworking projects together. Even through the most difficult times resulting from his years of dementia, she stood by him steadfastly, right to the very end. Harry loved to strike up conversations with anyone, and he was all about living and loving life. His smile lit up his face and made his blue eyes twinkle. And his laughter…it just filled up the room. It will be these images, along with his charm, charisma, and that handsome, movie-star-worthy face that will make us smile and give us comfort whenever we think of him. Harry is survived by his wife Delores, his children: Brian (Susie) Roggenbuck, Scott (Cindy) Roggenbuck, Dean Roggenbuck, Renee (Dave) Chumbler, and Leon (Amy) Roggenbuck; his stepchildren: Nancy (Gary) Windingland, Susan (Richard) FIsher, Sharon (John) Mc Gillis, Kathy (David) Pollock; step daughter-in-laws Debbie Terbrack and Shirley Terbrack, step son-in-law Robert Larking, his sister Anita (Scott) Plummer, 27 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and many sister and brothers in law, nieces and nephews. Besides his first wife Rochelle, he was preceded in death by his parents Leo and Clara Roggenbuck, in laws Paul and Katherine Seidl, brothers Jerome, Chuck, Vin, Orville, Carl, Earl, and Glen; sisters Edna Roth, Aletha Romzek, Monica DeYoung, Lula Clark, Becky Groll, his step children Ronald Terbrack, Karen Larkin, and Robert Terbrack, as well as several sister & brothers in law. Mass of Christian burial will take place 11 AM Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at Saint Anthony's Catholic Church in Helena with Fr. Kevin Wojciechowski officiating. Burial will follow in St. Anthony's Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Ramsey Funeral Home, Harbor Beach, Tuesday from 2 PM to 8 PM and at St. Anthony's Church from 10 AM Wednesday until the time of service at 11 AM. A Knights of Columbus Rosary and Men's Club joint rosary will take place Tuesday at 6 pm, followed by a Parish Vigil Service at 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to the American Alzheimer's Association or the family discretionary fund. Published Huron Daily Tribune Monday August 1, 2022.
