John Rutkowski
June 2, 1897 – January 16, 1969
UBLY - John Rutkowski, 71, retired farmer of Austin Township, Sanilac County 
died today in Warren, Mich., after an illness of several months.   Born June 2, 
1897 in the township, Mr. Rutkowski lived there two years ago when he went to 
make his home with his son, Jacob, in St. Clair Shores.  He and Miss Lucv 
Osentoski were married in 1925.  She died in 1930.  He and Mrs. Blanche Kolar 
were married in 1947.  She died May 19, 1963.  Mr. Rutkowski is survived by two 
sons, Marshall, Detroit, and Jacob; 12 grandchildren, four brothers, Enick, Cass 
City; Leo, Detroit, and Martin and Stanley, of Ubly: five sisters,  Mrs. August 
Ulfig, Warrewn; MrsGordon Cook, Harbor Beach, and Miss Irene Rutkowski, Mrs. 
Clements Miller and Mrs. Frank Jozefaciuk, all of Detroit; two stepbrothers, 
Edward Zulka, Detroit, and William Zulka, Ruth, and two step-sisters. Mrs. Jacob 
Peruski and Mrs. Gertrude Osentoski, both of Ubly. 

Funeral services will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in St. John Catholic 
Church by Rev. Zygmunt I. Gaj.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  The 
remains are in Zinger Funeral Home, Ubly, where Father Gai will recite the 
Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Friday.  Friends may call after 7:30 p.m. today.  Published 
Port Huron Times Herald Thursday January 16, 1969.

Notes:  Father: Frank Rutkowski, Mother’s maiden name was Grifka.  John married 
Lucy Osentoski June 15, 1926 in Parisville.  Although the obituary states they 
were married in 1925, the actual marriage record shows they were married in 
1926.  He married Helen Blanche Galloway June 28, 1947in St. John the Evangelist 
Catholic Church in Ubly.
