She was born March 11, 1915, in Minden City to the late Frank and Katherine (Grifka) Rutkowski. She never married. Irene worked for GM Fisher Body in Detroit for 30 years. She was a World War II B24 Wing Assembler. She was a resident of the Detroit Poletown area for years before moving to Ubly in 1970. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Ubly. She enjoyed playing cards with friends and was a member of a Pokino Club. She also enjoyed vegetable gardening. Irene is survived by one sister, Theresa Miller and her husband, Clements, of Fraser. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Leo, Enock, John, Stanley and Martin Rutkowski; and three sisters, Dorothy Ulfig, Sylvia Cook, and Rita Jozefaciuk.Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 14, 2005, at St. John Catholic Church in Ubly. The Rev. Steve Gavit, pastor of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ruth, will officiate. Burial will be in the St. John Cemetery in the spring.Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. on Sunday at Zinger- Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday at the church.
