Sylvester Salowitz
November 19, 1906 - March 16, 1954
Ubly, March 17 Funeral services for Sylvester Salowitz, 47, Bingham Township 
farmer, victim of a traffic accident, will be Conducted at 9:30 a.m. 
Saturday in St. John, the Evangelist, Catholic church.  Rev. Stanley A. 
Kilar will officiate.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Remains are 
in Edward Zinger and Son funeral home where Rosary devotions will be 
conducted at 9:15 p.m. Friday, with Father Kilar officiating.

SALOWITZ was born November 9, 1906, in Bingham Township and was a lifelong 
resident of the Township.  He and Miss Bertha Klama were married June 5, 
1937, in St. Mary's Catholic church in Parisville.  He is survived by his 
widow, four daughters, Irene,15; Beatrice, 14; Susie, 12; and Marlene, 6, 
and a son, Leonard, 4, all of whom live with their parents; his mother, Mrs. 
John Miller, Argyle; four brothers, Louis and Benedict, both of Detroit; 
Edward, Hamtramck, and Frank, Warren, Michigan and two sisters, Mrs. Edward 
Paionk, Van Dyke, Michigan and Mrs. David Wrubel, Warren.

He was fatally injured Tuesday when the automobile he was driving north on 
Nugent road and a milk truck, driven west on East Atwater road, by Arthur 
Bukoski, 31, Ubly, collided. Salowitz was going home after taking his 
daughters, Beatrice, Susie and Marlene, to Bingham Rural School, a quarter 
of a mile south of the crash.  Published Port Huron Times Herald Wed. March
