Leonard Salowitz April 9, 1949 - April 20, 1995 Leonard Salowitz, 46, of Belleville, died Thursday, April 20, 1995 at his residence. He was born April 9, 1949 in Bad Axe, son of Bertha Kluma Cook and the late Sylvester Salowitz. He was never married. Mr. Salowitz was a graduate of Ubly High School and served four years in the U.S. Navy. He was employed at Active Industries and moved to the Ypsilanti area in 1975. He was employed by General Motors Hydramatic Division in Ypsilanti. Surviving are his mother, Bertha Cook of Ruth; four sisters, Irene Schmidt and her husband, James, of Ubly, Beatrice Martinez of Milan, Susie Wiesner and her husband, Alfred, of Harbor Beach and Marlene Kolomak of Marlette; and a stepsister, Marlene Kucharczyk of Mayville. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Ernest Kucharczyk, and a stepsister, Lorraine Kucharczyk. Services were Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Parisville. The Rev. Michael Dunckel officiated. Burial was in the St. John Cemetery of Ubly. Arrangements were conducted by the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home of Ubly.
