Samulski July 11, 1924 – January 31, 2001 Walter L. Samulski, 76, of Harbor Beach passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2001, at his home following an apparent heart attack. He was born on July 11, 1924, in Detroit, son of the late Louis and Leona (Grates) Samulski. Irene Messing and Walter were united in marriage on February 19, 1944, in Ruth. She preceded him in death on July 16, 1977. Walter was a farmer, formerly owned and operated the Farmer's Tavern in Ruth, and owned and operated the Farmer's Market (the Purple Store) south of Harbor Beach. He also had a grocery truck that traveled throughout the area and had dances and auctions in the Twin Star Barn. Walt is survived by his children, Judy Klee and her husband, Charles, of Bad Axe, Walter Samulski Jr. and his wife, Diane, of Canton, Michael Samulski of Pontiac and Marjorie Dickinson and her husband, Wayne, of Marquette; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Louise Terwilliger of Bad Axe. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Samulski in 1997. A private family service will be conducted on Saturday, February 3, 2001, with burial in the Our Lady of Lake Huron Church Cemetery, Harbor Beach. Fr. Harry Sikorski will officiate. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Ramsey Funeral Home in Harbor Beach.
