(Booms) Scholtz November 21, 1919 – April 28, 2005 Helen A. Scholtz, 85, of Harbor Beach passed away Thursday, April 28, 2005, in the long-term care unit of the Harbor Beach Community Hospital. Born in Harbor Beach on November 21, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Matilda (Wolschleger) Booms. Helen and John Scholtz were united in marriage on June 14, 1938, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Helena. John preceded her in death on August 4, 1974. She was a member of Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church in Harbor Beach and enjoyed quilting and crocheting afghans for her family. Helen is survived by her three sons: Richard Scholtz and his wife, Patti, of Redondo Beach, California; Robert Scholtz and his wife, Debbie of Chesterland, Ohio; and Brian Scholtz and his wife, Shelly, of Harbor Beach; ten daughters: Diane Volmering and her husband, Eugene, of Harbor Beach; Judith Cremers and her husband, Tom, of Lessburg, Florida; Joan O'Neil and her husband, Gerry, of Center Harbor, New Hampshire; Elizabeth Harder and her husband, Betti, of Polk City, Florida; Marlene O'Connor and her husband, Pat, of Sutton Bay; Lorene Bronner and her husband, Wayne, of Frankenmuth; Margo Roth and her husband, Les, of Bad Axe; Sheri Crosswhite and her husband, Darrell, of Coleman; Dinise Rumler and her husband, Pat, of Leslie; and Carol Klein and her husband, Greg, of Montage; 43 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; one great-great- grandson; and two sisters Mary Kramer of Harbor Beach and Florence Ramisch of Palms. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Scholtz in 1975; a son-in-law Michael Harder in 2005; five sisters: Cecilia Terbrack, Amelia Booms, Sarah Essenmacher, Adeline Wehner, Frances Booms; and three brothers: Allen Booms, Clarence Booms, and Joe Booms. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, May 2, 2005, at Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church in Harbor Beach with Fr. T.J. Fleming, pastor, presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A parish vigil service will be at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday at the Ramsey Funeral Home, Harbor Beach. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home, and from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral on Monday at the church. Memorials may be given to OLLH Church or School or to Heartland Hospice.
