Joseph Anthony Schumacher
August 9, 1920 - May 1, 1982
LEXINGTON - Joseph A. Schumacher, 61, of 7406 Grove, died Saturday, May 1, 
1982, in Huron View Lodge, Ann Arbor, after a long illness.  He was born 
August 9, 1920, in Detroit.  He married Audrey Hilton October 8, 1946, in 
Ruth.  He lived many years in Minden City before moving to Lexington.  Mr. 
Schumacher owned and operated Schumacher Furniture, Minden City, for 17 
years.  He also was employed with the bridge and builders department of the 
C&O Railroad and drove a truck in Detroit for several years.  He was a World 
War II Army veteran and a member of Romanowski Post No. 6896, V.F.W.  He was 
a member of St. Denis Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Bad Axe 
chapter. 

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Joseph A. II, Madison Heights, Paul 
M., Detroit, and Maurice F., Lexington; three daughters, Mrs. Mary Jo Casey, 
Detroit, Mrs. Joseph A. (Patricia) Wietecha, Warren, and Ms. Cynthia J. 
Schumacher, Farmington Hills; his stepmother, Mrs. Nettie Schumacher, 
Forester; a brother, Melvin, Kinde; two sisters, Mrs. Virginia Kroetsch and 
Mrs. Eileen Pelot, both of Minden City; and 14 grandchildren.  A daughter, 
Audrey, died in 1960. 
 
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Denis Catholic Church, 
Lexington. The Rev. James Carlson, pastor, will officiate.  Burial will be 
in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Ruth.  A rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. 
Monday in the Pomeroy Funeral Home, Lexington. Graveside services are at 
1:30 p.m. Tuesday.  Visiting hours are 7 to 9 p.m. today and noon to 9 p.m. 
Monday in the funeral home.  Published Times Herald (Port Huron, Michigan)
