Seidl, age 93, of Ferndale, died Wednesday, April 6, 2011 in Southfield. He was born on the family farm in Ruth, Michigan., on November 19, 1917, the eighth of eleven children born to Peter and Katharina (Poell) Seidl. He married Jeanette Terbrack, daughter of John and Cecilia (Booms) Terbrack, on February 11, 1947, in Ruth, Mich. She preceded him in death on April 11, 1999. Mr. Seidl was a veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater, and was employed for 40 years by Molloy Manufacturing. He enjoyed woodworking - specializing in toys and Christmas ornaments - and playing euchre. He was the original owner of his home in Ferndale, having lived there over 60 years, and was a faithful member of St. James Catholic Church in Ferndale. He is survived by six children, Joan (Edward) Haak of Madison Heights, Judith (Philip) Walker of Sanford, Carl (Deborah) Seidl of Shillington, Pennsylvania, Janice (Nick) Mormino of St. Clair Shores, Mark Seidl of Royal Oak, George (Kathi) Seidl of Ferndale; 13 grandchildren, Amanda (Ryan) Stacey, Emily (fiancé Keith Holmes) Haak, Rebecca Walker, Michelle (Jason) Mahler, Christopher Seidl, John Seidl, Bryan Seidl, Ann Mormino, Lynn Mormino, Laura (Nico) Herrera, Katharine Seidl, and Michael and Kelly Seidl; three great- grandchildren, Elizabeth and Katharine Stacey, and Cora Mahler; five step- grandchildren, Lisa (Eddie)McCormack, Paul Mormino, Michael, Alicia and Kaitlin Kelly; seven step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Andrew (Marie) Seidl of Huntington Woods, and Ted (Carla) Seidl of Ruth, Mich.; three sisters-in-law, Sophie Seidl, Charlotte Seidl, and Annabell Seidl; one cousin, Charlotte I. Seidl of Connecticut, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by eight siblings, Elizabeth Forton, Paul, Joseph, George, Anthony, John "Jack", Leo, and Mary Edwards. Visitation Friday 2:30 – 9 p.m. at Spaulding & Curtin Funeral Directors, Ferndale and Saturday 10 a.m. until Funeral Mass 11 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, Ferndale. Interment Roseland Park Cemetery, Berkley. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to St. Vincent de Paul at St. James Catholic Church, Ferndale.
