Shemka, 46, Bad Axe, died Thursday, August 24, 1989 at his home. He was born April 30, 1943 in Parisville, son of the late John and Minnie (Glaza) Shemka. He married Janice Maurer August 23, 1969 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Smith Corners. Mr. Shemka was a 1962 graduate of Ubly High School and was a heavy-equipment operator for the Huron County Road Commission the past 18 years. He was a parishioner of St. John’s Catholic Church, Ubly for 17 years. Surviving are his wife, Janice, Bad Axe; a daughter Lori Shemka, at home, two sisters, Mrs. Archie (Marie) Pionk, Ubly, and Mrs. Jeannette Lemanski, Madison Heights and one brother, LaVerne, Port Hope. He was preceded in death by a twin brother, Harry Shemka. Services were 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John’s Catholic Church. The Rev. Peter Gaspeny, pastor, officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Arrangements were directed through the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home, Ubly.
