Rose (Kubacki) Smith  
October 4, 1930 - December 21, 2011

Rose Smith, 81, of Filion, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Huron 
Medical Center in Bad Axe.  She was born October 4, 1930 in Ubly, daughter of 
the late August and Mary (Osentoski) Kubacki.  She married George Smith Jr. on 
February 4, 1950.  He preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 1990.  Rose enjoyed 
polkas, Wheel of Fortune and spending time with her grandchildren and great-
grandchildren.

She is survived by five sons, George (Cheryl) Smith of Filion, Daniel (Kelly) 
Smith of Brookings, Oregon, Craig (Doreen) Smith of Bad Axe, Bill Smith of Bad 
Axe and Brian (Nickie) Smith of Filion; five daughters, Rosemary (David) 
Segroves of Caro, Joanne (Bill) Eisinger of Filion, Margie (Don) Wessels of Bad 
Axe, Jeanne (Gerald) Metzger of Filion and Donelda (Daniel) Sadro of Ubly; 
three brothers, Edward (Delores) Kubacki of Kinde, Anthony (Mary Ann) Kubacki 
of Cass City and August (Delores) Kubacki of Livonia; four sisters, Jeanette 
(Robert) Skipinski of Lakeville, Elinore (Herb) Fligger of Ubly, Frances Polega 
of Kinde and Beatrice (Elmer) Micklash of Ubly; 23 grandchildren; and 12 great-
grandchildren.  She was predeceased by two brothers, Eugene Kubacki and Felix 
Kubacki.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 24 at the Bad Axe Free 
Methodist Church.  Officiating will be The Rev. Jerry Sutton, pastor. Burial 
will be in Colfax Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday at the 
Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe and from 10 a.m. until the time of service 
Saturday at the church.
