Four children of Former Bad Axe Woman Die in Fire
Four children of a former Bad Axe woman burned to death Thursday in a fire which 
swept the five family apartment house where they lived. Mrs. Edmund Verloove, 
Oak Beach, formerly of Bad Axe, received word that four of five children of her 
daughter, Mrs. James N. Stewart, of Wheeling,  WV perished in the blaze. The 
mother, the former Mary J Verloove from Bad Axe, received first degree burns. 
Huron County Sheriff's Dept drove Mrs. Verloove to Almont Thurs night where she 
was met by a son who drove her rest of the way so she could join her daughter. 
The four children were trapped in their upstairs bedroom. A fifth child, Roy, 
was at school. The father, a taxi cab driver, was at work at the time of the 
fire.
