Donald L. Susalla
May 14, 1935 – July 14, 2016
SUSALLA, Donald L. – of Saginaw, Michigan; formerly of Goodrich, Michigan, age 
81, passed away July 14, 2016 at Cartwright Hospice Residence in Saginaw.   A 
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at St. John the 
Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison;  Rev. Fr. Andrew A. 
Czajkowski celebrant.  Burial will be in St. John Catholic Cemetery.  
Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 PM Monday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., 
Davison.  A Memorial Service under the auspices of the Knights of Columbus 3rd 
& 4th Degree will be held 6 PM, followed by a Rosary being prayed at 6:30 PM on 
Monday.  There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the service at 
church on Tuesday.
Donald was born in Huron County, Michigan on May 14, 1935, son of the late 
Lucian Susalla and Gertrude Susalla-Messing. He married Patricia Drewek on 
October 16, 1965 and she preceded him in death on September 10, 1990.  Donald 
then married Jeanette Hummell on June 11, 1995.  He was a member of the Knights 
of Columbus 4th Degree, Past Grand Knight and Financial Secretary with the K of 
C.  Donald served in the US Army as a Radio Intercepter at Herzo Base in 
Germany.  He loved genealogy, the Detroit Tigers, cribbage, euchre, gardening 
and K of C activities.  Donald was a member of Polish Geneology Society, 
Pulaski Social Organization of Saginaw and a founding member of St. Mark 
Catholic Church in Goodrich.  Donald retired from General Motors in 1991 after 
35 years of service. 
Donald is survived by his wife, Jeanette Hummel Susalla; children, Timothy 
Susalla, Therese Marie (Bill) Susalla-Milligan; step-children, Gene (Carol) 
Hummel, Janice Richter, Raymond (Maureen) Hummel, Denise (Steve) Knapschaefer; 
grandchildren, Bryan and Megan Susalla, William C. (Lindsey) Milligan, Tony and 
Patrick Milligan; great-grandson, Will Milligan; sisters, Anne and Sr. Helen 
Susalla, CSJ; brothers, Leonard (Patricia), Robert (Margie), Gary (Claudia); 
many loving family members and friends.
