Martin Cornelius Sweeney
August 9, 1910 - August 8, 1993
Martin C. Sweeney, 82, of Ubly died Sunday, August 8, 1993, at his residence 
after a short illness.  He was brn August 9, 1910 in Ubly, son of the late James 
P. and Flora (McLellan) Sweeney.  He married Bertha Sofka on November 26, 1942 
at SL Columbkille.  Mr. Sweeney was a graduate of Sweeney Country School.  He 
was a life member of Bad Axe Knights of Columbus #1546 and a lifelong 
parishioner and former usher at St. Columbkille Parish.  He was a former member 
of Greenleaf Township Board of Review.  

Surviving are his wife Bertha of Ubly, two daughters, Kathryn Wozniak of Coral 
Springs, Florida and Mrs. Thomas (Nancy) Collins of Allegan; two sons, Brian aid 
his wife Sally of Ubly and Kevin of South Lyon; seven grandchildren; one sister, 
Anna McIntosh of Sterling Heights; and three brothers, Neil and his wife 
Florence and James B. and his wife Virginia both of Ubly and Steve and his wife 
Lucille of Linwood.  He was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret O’Hanley 
and Susanna Kolar; and four brothers, Terrance, Angus, John and Dolan. 

Services will be Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Columbkille.  Pastor Peter 
Gaspeny, pastor, will officiate.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  
Visitation Wednesday is from 2:00 until 9:30 p.m. and Thursday from 8:00 until 
9:15 a.m. at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly.  There will be a Parish 
Service Wednesday evening at 7:30 by Fr. Ron Dombrowski.  Published Minden City
