Thomas Slavin, son of Mrs. Michael Slavin, Bad Axe. Pfc. Slavin died in France, Sept 15, from wounds suffered in action on the previous day. Rev. Charles Roark, local pastor, conducted the mass. In a brief sermon he lauded the Christian character of the soldier who died "so we could enjoy freedom." He plead for "religious and racial tolerance," and urged Christians to "pray for all our noble boys and girls in the Armed Forces." Those from a distance who attended the services were Mr and Mrs John McLeod and Miss Catherine Slavin, Detroit, and Mr and Mrs John Livingston, Ferndale. dz
