Richard Thomas Terbrack January 14, 1960 – November 29, 2025 Richard (Rich) Thomas Terbrack, a lifelong resident of the Downriver area whose independent spirit, sharp wit and loyalty defined him, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 29, 2025, in Brownstown, Michigan, at the age of 65. Born on January 14, 1960, Rich was the son of John Terbrack and the late Donna (Stimpfel) Terbrack. He grew up in Southgate, Michigan, and graduated from Schaffer High School in 1978. Rich furthered his education by earning an Associate’s Degree in Auto Mechanics from Wayne County Community College, which led to his first career as an auto mechanic for the City of Southgate. Rich’s entrepreneurial nature eventually led him to a new path: he owned and operated his own Domino’s Pizza franchise in Southgate for many years. After closing his store, he transitioned to working in the distribution department at the Harvard Drug Group in Livonia, Michigan before retiring in 2014. Rich had a great appreciation for the outdoors. He loved camping and, in his younger years, spent time golfing, hunting and white-water rafting. Those who knew him best will remember him as a truly singular person. He possessed a personality so large that you could never be bored in his presence. He delighted in teasing his beloved siblings, nieces, and nephews—a tradition that showcased his playful heart and enduring love for his family. Rich also cherished his close friendships, particularly his bond with Alysia Lutz and her daughter, Emma, and Danny Baker. Rich was preceded in death by his grandparents; his mother, Donna Terbrack; his brother, Joseph Terbrack; and his friend, Danny Baker. He is survived by his loving father, John Terbrack; his devoted siblings, John (Sandy) Terbrack, James Terbrack, and Judy (Brian) Valenti; and his sister-in-law, Laura Terbrack (wife of the late Joseph). He was the cherished uncle of Jennifer (Jason) Elder, Kris (Deb) Meeks, Spencer Valenti, Cecelia Valenti, John Terbrack, and James Terbrack and great uncle to Kristina Meeks, Landon Meeks, June Elder and Miles Elder. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. In accordance with Rich’s wishes, direct cremation has taken place. The family will hold a private Celebration of Life next summer, during which his ashes will be scattered at a location he loved in the Upper Peninsula.
