Kevin was born at the Minden City Clinic on January 27, 1956 and graduated from Deckerville High School in 1975, where he served as class president. He married the love of his life, Mary Anna (Abraham), in the spring of 1978. Kevin worked for McEachin Excavating and Farm Drainage after completing his studies at the American School of Heavy Equipment. He had a lifelong love of farming and took over the family dairy farm in the late 1980s, where he enjoyed working alongside his two sons. Later in life, he worked as a spokesman for Biogen IDEC. He was a founding member of the Delaware Township Fire Fighters and served as past Delaware Township Fire Department Fire Chief. He was a member of the board for the Delaware Township Planning Commission and attended township windmill organization meetings. He participated as an Easter Seals telethon volunteer. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Palms. He was a Lakeside 4-H Club Prospect Leader. His hobbies included hunting, visiting his family and friends and spending time with his loved ones, especially his granddaughters. Kevin is survived by his wife, Mary Anna (Abraham) Thompson; sons, Adam (Brandy) of Potterville and Jason of Mancelona; granddaughters, Pheobe and Olivia of Potterville; his mother, Saralee Thompson of Minden City, father-in- law and mother-in-law, August and Agnes Abraham of Minden City; one brother, Murray (Emelie) of Tucson, Arizona; two sisters, Marilee Schock of Harbor Beach and Lucinda (Dr. Thomas) Michalek of Deckerville; sister-in-law, Theresa Kirsch of Ruth; nephews, Nathan Schock of Traverse City, Neil (Ann Marie) Schock of Mt. Pleasant, Travis Schock of Harbor Beach, Nicholas Michalek and Matthew Michalek, both of Deckerville; nieces, Sarah Michalek and Elizabeth Michalek, both of Deckerville, Jessica Kirsch of Chicago, Illinois, and Rebeccah Kirsch of Ruth. Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Thompson and nephew, Andrew Thompson Michalek. The funeral Mass will be at 11 am Monday, April 25, 2011 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Palms. The Rev. Peter Nwokoye, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the Minden Township Cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the Delaware Township Fire Hall, 7979 Maple Grove, at the corner of Bay City-Forestville Road in Minden City and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick Church in Palms only. There will be a Fireman’s memorial service at 7 p.m. Sunday at the fire hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the family discretionary fund for various organizations loved by Kevin. Care has been entrusted to the Smigielski Funeral Home in Minden City.
