Bernard Lyle Thompson 
August 5, 1928 - June 3, 2004
PORT HURON Mr. Bernard L. "Bud" Thompson, 75, of Port Huron, died Thursday, June 
3, 2004 in Port Huron Hospital.  He was born August 5, 1928 in Port Huron to the 
late Charles and Neta (Jones) Thompson.  He married Luella "Lou" Essemacher on 
April 23, 1949 in Port Huron.  Mr. Thompson was a truck driver with Osburn 
Trucking.  He was a member of Teamsters Local 339 and Charles Hammond American 
Legion Post 8.  Mr. Thompson served in the U.S. Army during World War II.  He 
loved his family, gardening and yard work. 

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Mr. and Mrs. David (Shirley) Thompson of 
Port Huron, Mark Thompson of Port Huron Township, and Thomas Thompson of 
Twinsburg, Ohio; two daughters, Mr. and Mrs. William (Diane) Dobbins of 
Farmington, New York, and Mr. and Mrs. Amos (Luann) Armitage of Port Huron; five 
grandchildren, Matthew Thompson, Heather and Janelle Dobbins, and George and Ben 
Armitage; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by 11 brothers 
and sisters. 

Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. today in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.  
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 5, 2004 in Pollock-
Randall Funeral Home.  The Rev. Max Amstutz will officiate.  Burial will be in 
Mt. Hope Cemetery.  Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of St. 
Clair County Allied Veterans.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish
