Tiede June 22, 1936 - January 4, 2011 Frederick G. "Fred" Tiede, 74, of Auburn, died Tuesday morning, January 4, 2011, at his home. He was born the son of the late William and Mary (Kimmel) Tiede, June 22, 1936, in Crump/Duel and resided in this area all his life. He served with the U.S. Air Force, was a very active member of St. Valentine Catholic Church (Kawkawlin), Boy Scout Troop #141, Camp Ranger at Paul Bunyan Scout Camp, was a Dow Chemical Co., Building 1803 retiree, a charter member of Beaver Twp. Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of the Bay County Sheriff Department Mounted Division. On December 2, 1961, he married Judith A. Glaza. She predeceased him on July 30, 2006. Fred is survived by two sons, Mark (Connie) Tiede, and Steven Tiede and his fianceé Mary; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; six siblings, Ella (Myrle) Wise, Lee Wesenick, Ann Wirsing, Nettie Oakley, Harry (Marie) Tiede, and Ted (Nancy) Tiede; and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by six siblings. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at St. Valentine Catholic Church, 9 Mile and Parish Rds., Kawkawlin. The Rev. Fr. Jerzy Dobosz will officiate, with private family burial to follow in the church cemetery. Fred's family will receive friends at the Auburn Chapel of the Cunningham-Taylor Funeral Homes, Inc. on Thursday from 6-8 p.m., and Friday from 2-8 p.m. On Saturday morning Fred will lie in state at the church from 9 a.m. until time of liturgy. Those planning an expression of sympathy, envelopes for Boy Scouts of America and St. Valentine Cemetery will be available at the funeral home.
