Susan F. (Polega) Toner
February 5, 1952 – July 19, 2004
Susan F. Toner, 52, of Kinde died Monday, July 19, 2004, at her home.  She was 
born February 6, 1952, in Bad Axe, daughter of Felix and Frances (Kubacki) 
Polega.  She and Kenneth Toner were united in marriage on October 20, 1973, at 
St. Mary's Catholic Church in Dwight Township.  She was a lifelong member of 
St. Mary's Catholic Church and a member of the Altar Society.  Sue was a loving 
wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt, and caring friend of many.  
She was formerly employed at Hamill Manufacturing and the U.S. Postal Service, 
serving at both the Kinde and Port Austin offices. She enjoyed being part of 
the volunteers program at the North Huron Elementary School.  Sue cherished the 
time spent with her grandchildren and loved spending time with her family. She 
especially enjoyed group camping trips. Sue also enjoyed flowers, traveling to 
new destinations, cake decorating, fishing with her children, and playing cards 
and board games.

She is survived by her husband, Ken; four sons, Steve and his wife, Jill, of 
Sturgis, Brian of Port Austin, Nathan of Port Austin, and David at home; four 
grandchildren, Rachel, Matthew, Madalynne, and Brody; mother, Frances Polega of 
Kinde; two sisters, Marj Wehner and her husband, Clare, of Memphis, and Diane 
Emming and her husband, Eric, of Kinde; seven brothers, Fred Polega and his 
wife, Karen, of Shelby Township, Randy Polega and special friend, Joe, of 
Northville, Gary Polega and his wife, Sandi, of Harbor Beach, Marty Polega and 
his wife, Lisa, of Bad Axe, Greg Polega and his wife, Debbie, of Bad Axe, Terry 
Polega and his wife, Sue, of Owendale, and Kevin Polega and his wife, Maria, of 
Lapeer; mother-in-law, Virginia Toner of Kinde; in-laws, Don Schramski of 
Kinde, Carol and Chris Rapson of Bad Axe and Jerry Toner of Kinde, James and 
Colleen Toner of Kinde, Richard and Barbara Toner of Caseville, Connie and 
Duane Ruth of North Branch, Tina Toner of Filion, and Greg and JoAnne Toner of 
Filion; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her 
father, Felix Polega; sister, Dorothy Schramski; brother, Richard; and father-
in-law, Raymond Toner.

A funeral mass will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 23, 2004, at St. 
Mary's Catholic Church in Dwight Township. The Rev. Mieczyslaw Oniskiewicz will 
officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. There will be a vigil service 
at 7:30 p.m. today at the Knoblock Funeral Home in Kinde.  Visitation is from 1 
to 9 p.m. today, and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home.  
Memorials can be directed to the American Diabetes Association. Published July
