Walter Joseph Uhl
September 28, 1925 - October 28, 2004
SUN CITY CENTER, FL Walter J. Uhl, 79, of Sun City Center, Florida and formerly 
of Columbus Twp., Michigan passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2004, following 
a long illness.  He was born September 28, 1925 in Minden City, Michigan, a son 
to the late John and Verna Uhl.  He married Mildred Messing at Sts. Peter and 
Paul Church in Ruth, Michigan on July 21, 1951.  Walter's employment started at 
Peacock Lumber in Minden City, then Restrick's Lumber Store Inc. and he retired 
from Groesbeck Lumber Co. in 1987 following 21 years of service.  After spending 
five winters in Florida, Mildred and Walter moved there:

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Mildred of Florida; sons, Alan (Mary Jo) of 
Monroe, Thomas (Joann) of Allenton, James (Sheryl) of Roseville, Bruce (Lori) of 
Columbus and Dale (Teresa) of Roseville; daughter, Doreen Uhl of Roseville; 18 
grandchildren; brothers, Earl (Dorothy), Raymond, Merle, Eugene (Gail) and 
Leland (Pat); and sisters, Ada Murdock, Rose (Lawrence) Robinson and Lucille 
(Steve) Pelat.  
Walter was preceded in death by brothers, Harold, Norman and Floyd; and sister, 
Betty. 

Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Kammeraad Funeral Home, Memphis, followed 
by 11 a.m. Mass in St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Columbus Twp. with The Rev. 
Joseph R. Horn presiding.  Interment will be in the church cemetery.  Visiting 
hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday with a rosary to be prayed 
at 7 p.m.  Published Times Herald  Port Huron Sunday October 31, 2004.
