Clemens Ulfig February 2, 1924 - January 27, 2012 Mr. Clemens (Clem) Ulfig, 88, of Parisville, passed away Sunday, January 27, 2013, at Huron Medical Center in Bad Axe. Clem was born February 2, 1924, in Paris Township, to the late Peter and Victoria (Makowski) Ulfig. Clem was a graduate of the Sigel Country School. He farmed in Paris Township all his life and was a member of the National Farmer’s Association. He was a member of the Thumb Two Cylinder Club. Clem was a lifelong parishioner at St. Mary Catholic Church in Parisville, where he belonged to the Usher’s Club and volunteered for the St. Mary Festivals for many years. He was the founder of the St. Mary Historical Museum in Parisville. Clem was a 4th degree Knights of Columbus member of the Bishop Babcock Assembly No. 0487 of Bad Axe and a member of the Ruth Knights of Columbus Council No. 3823. He loved fast pitch softball and played for many years when he was younger. He was an avid sports fan, especially for all local area schools. Clem truly loved to spend time visiting his relatives and friends. Clem is survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ray Ulfig and his wife, Helen, Vincent Ulfig and Julius Ulfig and his wife, Mary; five sisters, Martha Derengowski and her husband, Stanley, Leona Schipinski and her husband, Matt, Rose Briolat and her husband, Marshall, Gladys Briolat and her husband, Stanley, and Tillie Wrubel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Parisville. The Rev. Robert Howe, pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe, will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Mary Cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be on from 1:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Church only. There will be a Knights of Columbus rosary at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and the 4th Degree Color Corp Honor Guard. Huron Daily Tribune Tuesday, January 29, 2013.
