John Norman Ulfig, 84, of Sandusky, died Friday, August 28, 2015, at Marlette 
Regional Hospital in Marlette. 
He was born July 6, 1931, in Harbor Beach, the son of the late John and Susan 
(Smaglinski) Ulfig.  John married Christine Osantowske on August 21, 1954, at 
St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Parisville.  He was a lifelong area resident.  
 
He was a member of Holy Family Parish, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sandusky, 
Marlette Knights of Columbus and Parisville VFW.  John served in the U.S. 
Marines from 1952 - 1954.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Christine; Kenneth and Gail Ulfig (son) 
of North Carolina, Kathy Ulfig (daughter) of Sandusky, Linda and Jeff Brown 
(daughter) of Sandusky, Larry and Susan Ulfig (son) of Brown City, Carol and 
Dale Fischer (daughter) of Snover, Carl and Patty Ulfig (son) of Sandusky, 
Jeffery and Torrie Ulfig (son) of Virginia; Selma Maurer (sister) of Filion; 22 
grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.  Besides his parents, he was also 
preceded in death by sisters, Gertrude Borek and Maryann Polak.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2015, at the Holy 
Family Parish, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sandusky.  Fr. Bob Schikora will be 
officiating.  Burial will be in the Moore Township Cemetery, Snover.  A 
combined Sandusky and Marlette Knights of Columbus Rosary Service will be 7 
p.m. on Tuesday at Marsh Funeral Home in Sandusky.  Visitation will be from 2 
to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Marsh Funeral Chapel in Sandusky and from 10 a.m. 
until the time of service on Wednesday at the church.  Memorial suggestion to 
the Sandusky VFW, Marlette Knights of Columbus or United Hospice of Marlette.
