Jacob E. Ulfig
July 18, 1912 - December 7, 1987
Jacob E Ulfig, 75, Bad Axe, died Monday December 7th at the Huron County 
Medical Facility, Bad Axe, after a long illness.  He was born July 18, 1912 
in Sigel Township, son of the late Anthony and Pauline (Miller) Ulfig.  He 
married Rose Smaglinski October 23, 1934 at St Mary's Catholic Church 
Parisville.  Mr. Ulfig attended Harbor Beach Schools and farmed in Sigel 
Township.  He was a seaman on the Great Lakes until 1937.  He lived in 
Detroit from 1937-1946.  He then farmed and worked at Hercules Inc., Harbor 
Beach, until 1965.  He moved to Troy and worked at Beaver Precision until 
moving to Bad Axe in 1974.  Mr. Ulfig was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic 
Church, Bad Axe, the Knights of Columbus Council 1546, Bad Axe, and the 
color corps.

Surviving are his wife Rose, Bad Axe; four sons, Linus Ulfig, New Brighton, 
Minnesota, Donald Ulfig, Bad Axe, Ernest Ulfig, Riverside, California and 
Arthur Ulfig, Madisonville, Kentucky; three daughters, Mrs. Floyd (Patricia) 
Essenmacher, Harbor Beach, Mrs. Hillary ((Delphine) Pawlowski, Port Hope,  
and Mrs. Robert (Susan) Stanton, Lapeer; 17 grandchildren and two great 
grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

Services were 11a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Monsignor 
Olin Murdick, pastor, officiated with burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery.  
Arrangements were directed through the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home, Ubly.
