Vasquez March 18, 1948 - September 22, 2011 Richard M. Vasquez At 4:20am on September 22, 2011, Richard munoz Vasquez left us and went to Heaven. Richard, age 62, was born in Douglas, Arizona to Juan and Ysidora (Munoz) Vasquez. Richard was drafted in 1968 and proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He achieved the rank of SP5, where he received the Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars; National Defense Service Medal; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; Combat Infantryman Badge; Air Medal; Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm; Sharpshooter (Rifle); 2d Class Gunner (M-60 MC). Richard was employed in the Masonry Construction field, last working for Carlson Masonry. He was a resident of the San Bernardino/Colton area for 59 years. He was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral. Cayo, as he was called by his family, was preceded in death by his father Juan, his brothers: Lupe and Raymond. Sisters: Georgina and Angela and sister Anna Calles. Also, Grandson: Michael Brinkman. He is survived by his dovoted Wife Lori, adoring Mother Ysidora (Lola); Daughters: Lily (Robert) and Candy, Step-Son: Michael Chesney Sr. His brothers: Juan Jr. (Danny) and wife Shirley; Manuel and wife Margaret; Jorge Guillermo, Frank and sister Linda. Grandchildren: Danny Brinkman; Steven Brinkman; Michelle Armendariz; Jeannette Vasquez; Jessica Banuelos; Rudy (Woody) Banuelos; Levi Culver, and Michael Chesney Jr. and Great Grand Daughter: Christen Brinkman. Many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and cousins. Last, but not least, his beloved puppy dog "Jasper" who he thought of as his "little boy"! Richard will be deeply missed by all who loved him. Visitation: Friday, Sept 30, 2011 from 4:30 pm to 8 pm with Rosary at 7 pm at Colton Funeral Home, 1275 N. La Cadena Dr., Colton, California. Funeral Mass: Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral, 2525 N. Arrowhead Ave, San Bernardino, California. Interment to follow at Hermosa Gardens Cemetery, 900 N. Meridian Ave, Colton, California.
