Hedwig J. (Smarszcz/Smarch) Visga
April 19, 1904 - November 13, 1981
KIMBALL TOWNSHIP - Hedwig J. Visga, 77, of 386 Pickford Road, died Friday, 
November 13, 1981, in her home.  She was born April 19, 1904, in Posen and 
lived here 55 years. Her husband, Frank P. Visga, died November 12, 1975.  
She was a member of St. Christopher's Catholic Church and was employed by 
the Prestolite Division of Eltra Corp. until she retired in 1975. 

She is survived by a son, Theodore, Port Huron; four daughters, Mrs. 
Herschel (Theresa) Hill, Hazel Park, Mrs. Clarence (Martha) Gentner, 
Marysville, Mrs. William (Florence) Prentice, Port Huron, and Mrs. Howard 
(Virginia) Hill, Pontiac; three brothers, Joseph Smarszcz, Clio, Chester 
Smarch, Marysville, and Phillip Smarch, Port Huron; 29 grandchildren; and 32 
greatgrandchildren.  A son, Anthony P., died June 30, 1967. 

Services will begin at 11:30 a.m. Monday in St. Christopher's Catholic 
Church.  The Rev. Joseph P. McElgunn, the church's pastor, will officiate.  
Burial will be in Riverlawn Cemetery.  Visiting hours will be noon to 9 p.m. 
today in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.  A rosary will be recited at 7:30 
p.m. today in the funeral home.  Published Times Herald (Port Huron,

Note:  Born to Frank & Victoria (Preczynski) Smarszca.  Married Frank Visga on 
May 16, 1921 in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rapson.
