Lawrence was born August 10, 1938, in Minden City, to the late Adolph and Adella (Messing) Vogel. He married Florence Patricia Kubacki on April 29, 1961, at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church of Smith Corners. Lawrence was a graduate of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic High School. He farmed for all of his life. Lawrence was a lifelong parishioner at Holy Apostle Parish, Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Ruth where he was a member for 23 years of the ushers club and the Knights of Columbus Council No. 3823. He also was a member of the National Farmers Organization for 43 years. Lawrence enjoyed woodworking, hunting, slow pitch softball, gardening, doing puzzle books, playing cards and horse shoes. Lawrence is survived by his wife of 53 years, Florence “Patricia” Vogel of Minden City; seven children, Dan (Darlene) Vogel of Terre Haute, Indiana, Janice Vogel of Ruth, Donna (Robert) Tanton of Deckerville, Gerald Vogel and Greg Vogel, both of Minden City, Doug Vogel and fiancé Renee` Pietila of Bryant Pond, Maine, and Shirley (Frank) Speciale of Minden City; four grandchildren, Josh Vogel, Justin Vogel, Torrey Tanton and Rebecca Speciale; step- grandchildren, Ginger and Toby Imes, Sherry Patterson and Ann Marie Tanton; 10 step-great-grandchildren; brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law and sisters-in- law, Virginia Vogel, Lucille (Jerome) Kolar, Arthur Vogel, Jane Vogel, Mary (LaVerne) Shemka, John (Elaine) Vogel, Evelyn (Roger) Stolicker, Betty Kubacki, Frank (Nancy) Vogel, Catherine Cleveland, Theresa (Tom) Kahlo, Carol Osborne, Margaret Kubacki, Beatrice Kubacki, Maryann (Eugene) Wisneski, Mildred (Eugene) Lamke, Aloysius (Joann) Kubacki, Bernard (Pauline) Kubacki, Rosemary (Thomas) Wisneski; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by one sister, Ann Vogel; three brothers, Bill, Charlie and Anthony “Tony;” brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Norma “Kate” Vogel, Ruth Vogel, Eugene Kubacki, Ralph Osborne, Lucy and Aloysius Kubacki, Rita and Stanley Heleski, Irwin and Marie Kubacki, Stanley Kubacki, Clarence Kubacki and Helen Kubacki; step great-granddaughter, Evangelyn Rivard; and several nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church of Holy Apostle Parish in Ruth. The Rev. Peter Nwokoye, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday. There will be a parish vigil service at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening and a Knights of Columbus rosary at 8 p.m. Both services will be at the funeral home. Memorials have been requested to the family discretionary fund.
