Eugene Volmering
May 1, 1935 - March 1, 2008
Eugene Volmering, 72, of Sherman Township, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2008 
at his home.  He was born May 1, 1935 to the late William and Anna (Emming) 
Volmering in Ruth. Eugene and Dian Scholtz were united in marriage October 13, 
1956 in Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church of Harbor Beach.  Eugene worked 
on the family farm for many years.  He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul 
Catholic Church of Ruth, a member of the Knights of Columbus of Ruth Council 
3823, and a member of Farm Bureau.  He enjoyed playing cards at the House of 
Knowledge and with his friends and family. 

Eugene is survived by his wife, Dian of Ruth; his children, James Volmering 
and his wife, Denise, of Phoenix, Arizona, Debbie Geiger and her husband, 
Dale, of Ruth, Brad Volmering and his wife, Ellynne of Palms, Steven Volmering 
and his wife, Donna, of Harbor Beach, Michael Volmering and his wife, Rhonda, 
of Harbor Beach, Michele Grekowicz and her husband, Chris, of Harbor Beach, 
Bryce Volmering of Michigan, Lynn Kern and her husband, Kurt, of Bridgeport, 
Lisa Moeggenborg and her husband, Brent, of St. Johns, and John Volmering and 
his wife, Emily, of Midland. Eugene has 27 grandchildren and six great-
grandchildren.  He also is survived by his brothers, Jerome (Eileen) Volmering 
of Harbor Beach and Raymond Volmering of Ruth; and his sisters, Lorraine 
(Stanley) Peruski of Ubly and Doris (Bernard) Roberts of Harbor Beach.  Eugene 
is survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. 

Funeral Mass for Eugene will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2008 in Ss. 
Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Ruth, Fr. Robert Paré officiating. Burial 
will take place at a later date.  Visitation for Eugene will be from 6 to 9 
p.m. today, 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the 
Ramsey Funeral Home of Harbor Beach. Knights of Columbus will have a rosary 
service at 4 p.m. Tuesday and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the 
funeral home.
